Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation to hold event for 60 children from YMCAPosted on October 30th, 2010
Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation Staff and volunteers spent Friday afternoon with over 60 children from the Hollister YMCA who came out to the Dewey Short Visitors Center on Beautiful Table Rock Lake. The group took advantage of several activities sponsored by the foundation including making a Pine Cone Bird Feeder and trying out one of three educational activities offered by the Foundation: Life in the Fast Lane: This fun filled scavenger-hunt helps students to experience how aquatic life requires certain basic needs. Students use the scavenger hunt to obtain basic needs (i.e. food and shelter) while avoiding predators. The Students rounded out their fun filled educational field trip with a tour of Table Rock Lake Dam and Powerhouse! The children were escorted by tour guides through the tunnels and passageways of Table Rock Lake Dam learning how Hydro Power is produced.
